Mobile Apps

Apps for phone and tablet, connected to your systems.

We build apps for iPhone, Android and tablet when employees or customers capture, scan or order on the move. One shared codebase for both platforms keeps costs and maintenance low, and the app is connected to your ERP and back office. Where a web app is enough, we tell you before the project starts.

Typical triggers

Typical triggers

Clients get in touch when one of these situations arises.

  • 01Field staff or technicians fill in reports on paper and the office types them up.
  • 02A workflow needs the camera, a barcode scanner, NFC or a card terminal right on the device.
  • 03Customers should order, book or check their status on their phone.
  • 04Work happens where the network is weak: in the warehouse, on the construction site, in the basement.

Mobile Apps

What you get

  • A clear recommendation up front

We check whether an installable web app is enough or a store app is needed. You only invest in what your workflow really requires.

  • One app for iPhone and Android

One shared codebase for both platforms and, if you wish, for the browser too. This keeps development and maintenance lean.

  • Device features

Camera, barcode and QR scanner, NFC, location, push notifications and card terminal integration.

  • Works without a network

Data is stored on the device and sent as soon as there is reception again. Photos and signatures included.

  • Connected to back office and ERP

The app pulls master data from your systems and writes results back, without anyone retyping.

  • Publishing and updates

We handle the App Store and Google Play on your own developer account and keep the app running on new iOS and Android versions.

Cart in the Flowerpower Direct POS app after scanning the customer card

In practice: a checkout app for flower shops

For Flowerpower Direct we built a self-checkout system as an app. Customers scan their loyalty card and the products, pay by card and receive the invoice by email.

The same app runs on Android devices in the shop and in the browser. It is managed from a central back office where the operator handles all branches, checkouts and products.

  • 4 steps from card scan to invoice
  • 6 languages at the checkout
  • No checkout staff needed at the self-checkout

Web app or store app?

A web app is enough when

  • users mainly work with forms and lists
  • internal users can add the app to their home screen via a link
  • you do not want to wait for review by Apple and Google
  • you need a first result quickly

A store app pays off when

  • scanners, NFC, card terminals or Bluetooth devices need to be connected
  • the app must work reliably without a network
  • your customers should find the app in the store
  • location or background features are needed

Mobile Apps

Approach

  1. 01

    Initial call

We clarify who uses the app, where and for what, and whether a web app is enough.

  2. 02

    Clickable prototype

You test the key screens on your own phone before any code is written.

  3. 03

    Delivery in stages

Every two weeks you get a new test version on your devices.

  4. 04

    Publishing

Review by Apple and Google, distribution in the store or only to your own devices.

  5. 05

    Operation

Updates for new operating systems, monitoring and further development with fixed response times.

What drives the effort

An app with a few screens built on existing interfaces sits at the lower end. Offline operation, device features such as scanners or card terminals and a new back office increase the effort.

Frequently asked questions

What does an app for iPhone and Android cost?

An app with a few screens that connects to existing interfaces starts at around CHF 20,000. With offline operation, device features such as scanners or card terminals and a dedicated back office, projects usually range from CHF 40,000 to 120,000. Because one shared codebase covers both platforms, you do not pay twice.

Do we need an app from the store or is a web app enough?

For forms, lists and internal workflows, a web app that can be added to the home screen like an app is often enough. A store app pays off when scanners, NFC, card terminals or reliable offline operation are needed, or when your customers should find the app in the store. We give you this recommendation before the project starts.

Who takes care of the App Store and Google Play?

We handle submission, review and updates. The developer accounts are registered to your company, so the app and its ratings belong to you. Apple charges USD 99 per year for this, Google a one-time fee of USD 25.

Who holds the rights to the code and the data?

The data is yours. The source code is kept in a repository you have access to, and the usage rights to it pass to you once the work is paid in full. We rely on widely used technologies such as Next.js, C# and PostgreSQL, so that another team can take the software forward if needed.

Who runs the software after go-live?

We do, if you wish. A maintenance contract covers hosting in the EEA, monitoring, security updates, backups and agreed response times. The usual figure is 15 to 20% of the project cost per year. You can also run the software on your own infrastructure or hand it to your IT partner.
